Journey to Waist Length Hair

As I journey towards my goal of waist length hair, it feels like I stumble across a new gem every other week on wash day. Week one, I learned a tough lesson about neglect and skipping trims. Week three, I experienced the consequences of failing to use pH balanced products on my kinky curly combination hair. Week five, I learned the importance of knowing your hair’s porosity and using products that cater to it because it makes a world of difference in your curl definition, moisture retention, and luster of your hair. Week seven, I confirmed the benefits of rice water rinses. Week nine, I took an oath to make Ayurvedic treatments (masks and infused scalp oils) permanent staples in my hair care regimen. Week eleven, I figured out how to save money by buying oils that have been proven to promote healthy hair growth and retain length instead of falling for gimmicks and social media hype.

No, I am not an expert. And no, I am not a new natural. I’m just a combination curly girl who has been natural since 2011, loves protective styling, and experienced a crap load of setbacks. I’m just trying to be a wise natural – a natural who knows her hair and does not fall victim to hair trends, fads, or lies some stylists tell.  Seriously, I am just trying to do things the right way through extensive research and trial and error. High key, I’m praying for bundles of blessings – I don’t want any more setbacks…I just want to reach my hair goal in peace.

What are my hair goals? My hair goals, more like miracles, are to grow thick, healthy waist length hair by the end of December 2018. Do I believe it’s actually possible to grow waist length hair in a year, especially since my hair is shoulder length right now? Absolutely! I’m implementing healthy hair care practices, eating right, exercising, and praying for miracles from God. Join me here or on my YouTube channel where I will chronicle my hair growth journey every other week. I promise to share my ups and downs, hair secrets, and so forth.
